Tempeh Bean Soup
This stew has a smoky flavor that's very popular with dogs.

canned great northern beans |
| 1 cup |
tempeh, cubed |
| 3 tablespoons |
veggie bacon bits |
| 1 teaspoon |
liquid smoke |
| 2 tablespoons |
vegetable oil |
| 3 cloves |
garlic, minced |
| 3 stalks |
celery, chopped |
| 3 |
carrots, chopped |
| 1/4 cup |
fresh parsley, chopped |
| 1 pinch |
black pepper |
- Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker, filling with enough water to cover, and cook on low all day, or high for about 4 hours or until beans and vegetables are tender.
- If you do not have a slow cooker, soak dry beans overnight, discard water.
- Add to fresh water in a large pot with other ingredients.
- Simmer for an hour and a half or until beans are done.
